Price, Specs, Keys and GOG.com!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

As we approach launch, it’s time to announce a few important things that we haven’t yet mentioned―including some that people have been waiting for for a long time!

When we launch on 26 July, We Happy Few will debut at US$29.99.

The price will be the same on Xbox One and on PC.

We spent more time than you would think considering price points. We feel like this strikes the best balance between quality (both state and size of the game), accessibility, making money (brutal truth, guys) and respect for our Kickstarter backers who backed at CAD$30 (~ US$23). We wanted to make sure that everyone who backed us on Kickstarter remains happy with contributing to our campaign, and supporting us as they have. Thank you all, again.

The price of the game is likely to go up as we head towards 1.0, but we want to confirm to everyone that we will not be discounting the game during the Early Access period. That same respect we have for our Kickstarter fans extends to Early Access supporters - you guys are buying our game on a promise, and we won’t forget that.

GOG.com store page is live!

We are also excited to announce that we are taking part in GOG.com’s Games in Development program, meaning that we will be launching on GOG.com on 26 July. We have been GOG.com fans for some time, and we want to thank the GOG.com fans requesting We Happy Few and our DRM-free and GOG.com fan backers on Kickstarter. Here’s the store page to get some hype going:

Now that we are further into development, our tech team has been reviewing our PC specifications to make sure nobody ends up buying a game that they can’t run. This is where we are currently at:

Recommended specs:

Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD, 2.5 GHz or faster

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 660 GTX or AMD Radeon 7870 HD series or higher

DirectX: DirectX 11, Shader Model 5

Operating System: 64 bit, Windows 7 and above

Minimum specs:

Processor: Triple-core Intel or AMD, 2.0 GHz or faster

Memory: 8 GB RAM

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 460 GTX or AMD Radeon 5870 HD series or higher

Mobile: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M or higher.

DirectX: DirectX 11, Shader Model 4

Operating System: 64 bit, Windows 7 and above

Graphics card hierarchy can be pretty confusing. In order to determine whether your graphics card meets the minimum requirements, please visit http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/ and search for your card. Anything with a score of 2500 or higher can be considered above the "minimum specifications" for graphics cards.

We will be working to try and reduce the minimum specs, but as the game itself changes constantly, please be aware that these may not go down.

Backer Keys

We will be delivering Steam and GOG.com keys to Kickstarter backers in the next couple of weeks, so you should be able to add them to your libraries well before launch (although they won’t be playable until release). Just like with other Kickstarter rewards, we will be distributing these through BackerKit.

We sent invitations to everyone at the end of the campaign, and the vast majority of you have signed up and figured things out. If you have any questions about getting access to BackerKit, we suggest emailing them at support@backerkit.com, and failing that, you can get in touch with us. However, please keep in mind that we won’t be able to help with lost passwords, forgotten usernames, etc.

Thanks everyone. Three weeks to go!

@Hidude Yes - not for some time. Because we're going into Early Access, the soundtrack will likely come later in the piece, along with the art book. That's a bit unavoidable, unfortunately, because we have a lot more art/music to create.

I would just like to thank your team deeply for choosing to release on Good Old Games. I only learnt about We Happy Few earlier this week, and I'm quite interested in getting a copy when possible. Since xbox and steam are not options for me, the inclusion of G.O.G. is certainly . . . well, joyful!

Thank you. Now I just need to be able to afford a computer which meets those specs.
