Can anyone help me actually run the game before I refund? :(

Recommended Posts

Already messaged support and I've been waiting for a response but if I can't get the game going, I really just wanna refund so I can go play something else.

Basically, the game starts up, I see the We Happy Few art in a small window and I can hear the music, but then I get a large window of a black screen and everything crashes. Every. Single. Time.

Things I've tried:

uninstalling and reinstalling

verifying game cache

restarting PC

Uninstalling and reinstalling steam

ran in compatibility mode

ran in admin mode

I can post my full dxdiag if anyone needs it but the cliff notes of my rig:

- 980 ti x 2 SLI

- Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900KF CPU @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs), ~3.6GHz

- windows 10

- 32gb ram

Thanks and I really hope I can play the game!

Hopefully this thread helps someone in the future who is googling around with the same problem!

After 2 days of troubleshooting, I am making progress.
I went to nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add glimpsegame.exe then messed around with every setting. To my amazement, I finally found the culprit that did not allow the game to launch: You must force single rendering GPU (instead of SLI) AND you must turn Image Sharpening Off!

So alas, the game is launching.

However, the happiness is short-lived because the game completely freezes in the menu after about 30 seconds every time.

I'm happy to have made progress, but this is where I'm at now. If anyone can chime in or help that would be awesome. Thanks!

Pretty much talking to myself but I hate when I find someone with the same problem and they never mention how they solved it lol... but my problem is solved! What finally did it was a clean GPU driver install. I tried turning image sharpening on but it caused the same behavior regardless, so I'm pretty much leaving nvidia control panel settings on default for now. I played for about an hour with no crashes or freezes or any problems at all. Fantastic game so far and I'm glad I get to play. See ya
