A Malpractice of Doctors quest broke or ps4 bug?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else getting the blue error screen when trying to escape the Doctor Headquarters right before you leave the building during the A Malpractice of Doctors quest?? I restarted the game many time and it always take me to the blue error screen during that quest. I dont know if its just the game bugged or if its my Ps4 bugged since it keeps asking me to send a report about it.

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

This is a known low memory crash (RAM) which can occur on some PS4 save games.

The World Generation system can create unpredictable worlds, and some of these are laid out in ways which may use up too much memory in certain areas of the game.

Issues like this can occur rarely for some players, especially on the PS4 and XB1 base consoles.

We're looking at addressing issues like this for the next patch (v1.7), but that won't be coming out for some weeks.

The crash occurs most often when dying inside the Health Institute and reloading your save game. Sometimes it will crash when you exit the health institute.

Unfortunately, there is no specific workaround for this issue. In the meantime, you can start a new game with a new worldseed, or attempt to complete the Health Institute without dying. I'm sorry to have to tell you this.

You can also contact our support team at < https://gearboxsoftware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new > and they'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Lee

Thank you so much for letting me know :) I really didn't want to get mad at the game about it and get rid of it just because bugs happens. Its a really great game. Bummer about the patch not coming soon. But thanks for the advice and your generosity for exsplaining the problem and giving me some heads up on so other missions that could have the problem as well. Thanks again and until then I'll start a new game. :D

I am having this same issue after the 1.7.8 update. I have restarted the game multiple times since and still have this issue. I have played this mission 11 times and have only completed it once. It's incredibly frustrating. Has anyone been able to finish Arthur's story since the update?

I haven't died or even been seen inside the Institute. I don't want to have to start the entire playthrough again... 😣

I am also having this issue on my ps4. Every time I go to leave the medical facility to complete that part of the storyline I get the blue screen. I haven’t died at all during the quest. I am not playing on a ps4 pro. The fact that these bugs still exist this long after the release of the game is ridiculous really. I was charged full price for a game I can’t even play one third of the game due to these technical issues. It’s really disappointing to because otherwise the game would actually be enjoyable. I really feel some kind of refund or compensation needs to be given otherwise I don’t really feel like I’d ever have enough faith to invest my time or money into anything developed by your team again.

I am also having the same issue i think i tried to finish malpractice of doctors more than 40times and everytime crashing (usually the crash are more frequent after the quarantine deactivation). But no luck i'm stuck there... can't go further in the game...

I also contacted the support, and the reply is that they are fixing "bugs" but they have no eta.

And suggeste me try to restart the game from the beginning to see if things works (the problem is that in my actual save i did nearly all side quests etc... so i would like to keep this progress, and not really want to redo everything from scratch).

I also have had issues blue screening when exiting the building after completing the mission without dying and trying multiple times. It has also autosaved so I cannot "continue" without it  blue screening.

This is an amazing game and a brilliant concept, however the further I progress the more it randomly goes to a loading screen while walking down the street and/or  it blue screens. Please fix these issues quickly.

Sincerely,

A fan who wishes to complete "We Happy Few" for all of its glory.

I'm having the exact same experience as you! I've never died during the mission & can make it all the way to the exit of the HQ, but then I get blue screened.  I also cannot choose "continue" because I will get a blue screen once the game finally finishes loading.  Luckily I made a manual save right before I entered the building, but every run ends in a blue screen.  I've really enjoyed the game so far (well, the story at least... not so much all of the glitches and crashes) and would love to actually finish it!

I’m currently experiencing this same problem. Has a patch been created yet? Just want to make sure I didn’t miss it. I did try to update as the system suggests but it says I have the “latest version”. I have made more space but I’m unsure about how much I need. We shall see if that helped.

Hi there,

v1.8.85815 was just released late last week (this will appear as 1.08 in the PS4 menus). This includes a fix to address memory issues during the Malpractice of Doctors quest.

If you update to that version, do you still experience this crash?

If the issue is still occurring after the update, please contact our support team at < https://gearboxsoftware.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new > and they'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Cheers,

Lee

I forgot to post this, I noticed the update and had tried a few things before that. I know this is late but the fix I found was switching from my PS4 to the pro. Haven’t had a hiccup since. Thanks for the update!

The issues regarding crashing from low memory only affect the base PS4 and Xbox One models.

Xbox One X and PS4 Pro have more dedicated memory than the base models and don't suffer from the issue, so that makes sense.

We're glad to hear switching resolved it for you.

Cheers,

Lee
