  1. Yay another update and I'm guessing Alex is a fan of Hercule Poirot? If not that is quite the coincidence with the name hehe . And yay fog, will help with the atmosphere a lot along with making it feel more like our lovely England.
  2. This won't affect the PC version at all, they did mean it's first to consoles on X1 because they have an early access program, whereas the PS4 doesn't yet. That's the main reason why it would seem .
  3. Just a little thing, now you can change the interaction button (from the default of E) which is nice. However I'd say also change the "take all" button to be the same button you change interaction to. So for example I changed interaction to a side mouse button, but had to hit E still to take all. I'd rather just hit the side mouse button twice to take all. Thanks!
  4. When on the main menu, if you go to options and try to change any of them it causes a fatal error crash. This doesn't happen if you try to change options when in game though.
  5. Really nice first update, it's cool to see you take inspiration from the Rust weekly blog. It's a good way to keep people up to date especially for when the Kickstarter kicks off and cementing that trust for backers. Seems a lot of stuff is about to come to the alpha, can't wait!
  6. I've always loved the crazy beautiful screenshots people take and show off. I had some free time so I thought, Contrast would be a good game to experiment with and seeing if I could enable the debug camera, learn how to run a game at 4k and so on. Pretty happy with a first try and thought some people here might like them and I might add more the album later on .
  7. I was curious about this patch because of the great trailer. I was wondering if the new TVs outside were just done specifically for the trailer but nope they're well implemented in the game it seems . I like it following you, that seemed to work really well. Just a silly aside first thing I noticed though was on the main menu patch notes "We hope you enjoyed the launch teaser for Contrast" I really did though that was a while ago now. Noticed lots of little details and polish in the starting room, I'm curious about the train and what might be going on there. I know there's some sort of war that has or is happening. Is it a Operation Pied Piper thing and getting children out of Wellington Wells? Also with the starting room I see that you sort of give the player enough items to help them understand they have to eat, drink purified water and to use a lockpick which is good. I would say though, small things with the crafting (which by the way looks even nicer now in the UI <3). It says "Picked up bandage" rather than "Crafted bandage" and it might be nice to have some small audio feedback to signify something has been crafted perhaps. Also, the lockers you have to lockpick. I didn't know they could actually be unlocked until I had the lockpick. Before that there was no "This is locked" notification. When I started the game and walked over to them it just says "Search Locker" and I thought they were bugged when I hit E and nothing happened. They don't have something like a padlock on them to suggest they're locked, or do that shake that the locked doors on a house do. The TVs also still have that audio sync bug if you pause the game, could be a little distracting if at PAX someone wants to pause as they listen to one of you explain something about the game. Anyway sorry back to being positive! I really like the polish on when you exit the starting room, a lot nicer looking now, no clipping through the door and such. The world generation seemed to be a little better in this build, not quite so many wonkey stairs and buildings clipping through other buildings which was nice. Like I said, I'm impressed with the added outside TVs, that worked surprisingly well from what I saw <3. Also now I know why people were walking up to the phone boxes but not making calls, it allllll makes sense . I think my other random little feedback would be that I found the stethoscope in the gold box! Just I currently have no idea what to do with it yet. (And yes I did indeed spot the Doctor Who reference on it ). This is a really nice build and I see where the work has gone into it. I hope you get good feedback at PAX and I'm looking forward to what the next pieces of the game will be put in next. Keep up the fantastic work all!
  8. Excellent news, that's 5pm my time which is good too. I very much look forward to it! All the best at PAX, I'm sure you all can't wait to see more people playing it, running around and then getting killed . I'll be free over the weekend and no doubt be able to test stuff and write up a few crash bugs while some of you get whatever precious few hours of sleep you can. Keep up the fantastic work, I get the sense this last week has been hectic, but you've done it before and I am sure getting the build ready for PAX will yield some great results!
  9. Hello! I haven't posted my first playthrough initial thoughts here because Josh apparently has lots of notes about what I said the first time I played it already . But I may type them up myself into a more cohesive post at a later date anyway. For now I'll just ramble about the newest update. Was happy to see a new patch when I woke up this morning, I reckon each time a big patch comes out I'll become more and more curious about what's going on in this crazy world. First thing of course, you're spawned in a safe place. Indeed much better then when I loaded the game for my very first time and had old ladies with bugged crooked necks all screaming at me . Before the patch I had found this place before when I was seeing if I could get into the Underground station. I wondered why the room was there, and now I know. It does feels a lot better starting here, it's cozy! After picking up all the items from the equipment lockers and such, I noticed this time I could turn on the TV (I'm pretty sure I couldn't before? Unless I missed the prompt). I wasn't expecting anything but WOW! I Immediately became enthralled with Uncle Jack. For a few seconds I was like "That's really well animated" then I twigged it was an actor, whoever picked him to play the part big kudos. I kept watching and listening to the point of my character becoming dehydrated. You've really nailed your art style and tone on the TV bits. Kept it grounded and not gone the slightly over the top propaganda way of Vault Boy from the Fallout games. Jack actually seems nice, but not in a sinister way so much, more like he's stuck and just wants to help people get through whatever is going on. Again him adding little tidbits of information into the world, like when he's telling the jokes, mentions eating a banana but that he couldn't anymore as if they can't get them imported anymore or something. Along with him mentioning a war at some point, could he just mean WW1 or 2? Probably not. I'm sure I'll find out. Also very random question but I'm curious, in the joke telling part did someone have to make him that massive bow tie or did someone just find it in a random shop somewhere? So after I was done in the starting room, I went up the ladder and triggered the new intro cutscene. Seems to work well, the animation clipping through the manhole cover is a little distraction but I know that's just temporary. I like the Bobby giving you a little nod in that lovely "Morning Sir" way. Started to walk around a little to see what else was new, obviously noticed the classic red telephone boxes right away, very nice. Along with the traffic lights with sad or smiley faces on depending, was curious about those, will they animate and mean something later on? Or are they there mostly for extra scenery? I decided to test what ranged weapon the police officers would use on me, wasn't expecting the duck! And I certainly wasn't expecting the stand in audio on it, the first time made me give a little jump as it caught me off guard but it certainly gave me a chuckle. I also tried drinking water from a house tap again to see what the drug effect would be, boy do things go wobbly quick . Nice to see that do something to you now. Oh and another random thing, this time I killed someone and took their cricket bat to try. I know most of the audio is placeholder right now, but it makes a metallic sound when you unsheath it. It can sometimes be the littlest things that break a person's suspension of disbelief. Anyway, still really liking where things are headed, will keep adding thoughts later no doubt, especially after your next few patches. I'm sure PAX will give lots of interesting feedback too. Keep up the amazing work everyone!
  10. Two serious but non crash related bugs I found were. 1) Duplicate bug. In the new starting room I collected all the items I could, from the two storage units, the first aid box and the desk with the TV on. I saved and then reloaded, the storage units and first aid box (but not the desk) had been restocked again. I do realise right now as you're tweaking the build getting ready for PAX people probably aren't going to be using the save as they explore, but thought I should mention it. 2) TV Video/Audio sync bug. With the TV playing the Uncle Jack shows, if you hit escape to bring up the menu the video keeps playing, but the audio pauses. You close the menu and the audio resumes from where you paused so it plays out of sync. This doesn't happen if you open the inventory though.
  11. In the game I crafted two bandages and put them both in my quick use slots. The crash happens when I take these steps: *Open the inventory *Hit quick use (F) to use one of the two *Close the inventory Then I get the crash. I was able to replicate it. I then made 5 bandages, and kept hitting quick use this time without doing it inside the inventory or looking at it at all and also got a crash. I noticed with the inventory open, quick using one would make the sound effect, but not always remove it from the quick slot. As if the game wasn't actually registering my using it completely. I have the logs and such but not sure where or to whom I should post them (and I imagine no one wants to look over logs during the weekend!) (Just to also point out I know I can double click an item to use it while in the inventory but I was just messing around)
